Rights-based

As a children’s organization, children, youth, women and girls are our focus. We work to raise the level of child rights awareness among rights and duty bearers to enable rights bearers defend their own rights and hold duty bearers to account for any rights non-realization and violations; to transform child rights’ environments, develop children and transform the entire society in which children live for the better.

Partnership

As a national and homegrown organization, ARDI-SS endeavors to partner with other non-governmental organizations, international organization, local communities, and government authorities. We believe that our strength to transform rural and urban vulnerable communities affected by climate-based disasters, conflicts and other forms of displacements, lies in building partnerships with like-minded organizations to increase the strengths and impacts of our activities

It has experienced influx of refugees and returnees since the war in Sudan started in April of 2023.The heightened populations depend on the land for water, food production and firewood. The over exploitation of trees for fuel and farming activities exacerbated by a combination of climate change and human activities is fast creating a desert-like environment across the four payams of Renk i.e., Jalhak, Chemdi, Gerger and Renk. On the other hand, it is common for the White Nile to break its banks and cause floods during rainy seasons. The war displaced populations who have suffered severe loss of forceful displaced, and losing their homes now face a combination of climate induced displacement by floods and diminishing farming land, fuel wood to cook and local poles of shelter. The multiple losses due to climate change; affected livelihoods, homes, families emotionally albeit differently for men, women and children.
